THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's law practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate and estate administration as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 and assists parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private cases as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who wish to avoid litigation and court processes.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's dedication to her work were instrumental in helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law as she was active as an officer of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state area.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships as well in estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the goal of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
